Formia sits at the crossroads of many worlds: modern and ancient, the sea of the Gulf of Gaeta and the mountains of its hinterland, the retro charm of its villas, Roman ruins and historic neighbourhoods.

We invite you for a journey of three days and three nights of tango, by the blue sea of Formia, from 19 to 21 March 2027, for the first edition of the Blue Rose Tango Marathon.

The marathon

Blue Rose Tango Marathon is a marathon for 100 Italian and international dancers, with absolute role balance, 5 talented DJs, and the possibility of staying in the beautiful rooms of the Klaton beach hotel or in one of the many B&Bs in the area.

Blue Rose Tango Marathon is organized by a group of enthusiasts, friends of yesterday and today, supported by many friends and international DJs.

The city

Formia is a small town in the Gulf of Gaeta, just a few kilometres from Rome and Naples. A holiday destination since Roman times, Formia overlooks the sea with its Vindicio beach. Formia has a unique culture of hospitality and human warmth.

The centre and historic quarters of Formia are about 2 km from the venue, reachable on foot or in a few minutes by car; the beautiful historic city of Gaeta is 8 km away.

A DJ for as long as he can remember, after a long journey through Caribbean rhythms he was won over by tango in 2003 and never looked back. He likes to blend tradition with a few small experiments, always with a soft spot for O.T.V., Canaro, Calò, D'Arienzo, Troilo, Pugliese... Over the years he has learned, above all, to listen to the floor and let it guide him. Lately he has had the good fortune to play as musicalizador at festivals, marathons, encuentros and other events, in Italy and abroad.

Reporter, tangoholic, globe-trotter. He began DJing nearly twenty years ago in Rome and has since played at some of the most important festivals and marathons in Europe. For him, playing at a milonga means telling a story that changes every time: every place, every moment has a different one. Listening to the flow of the ronda is his goal. 'Save the planet, dance tango' is his motto.

Paris

Italo-French, milonguero, international tango teacher and DJ. His tango is adventurous, creative and passionate, his personality dynamic and expressive. DJ and teacher since 2010, dancer since 2003. Based in Paris, he has played at major events from Hong Kong to Buenos Aires, through the main European marathons.

From Naples, born in 1985, she approached tango through music and dance, accompanied from the very beginning by a cultural and linguistic curiosity. 'What thrills me is the milonga as a whole, the suspension and the magic that is created. I try to recreate in those who dance that nostalgic wonder I felt the first time: difference and inclusion, the dialogue of bodies between strangers and the magnificent improvisation that emerges.'

She began her tango DJ career in Potsdam and Berlin. She plays regularly at milongas such as the celebrated Café Domínguez, as well as at festivals and marathons. She is known for her carefully crafted tandas, which flow with the dancers and the ronda. Comfortable in both roles, she absorbs the musical perspective of each. Her heart belongs to the Golden Age, especially the 1940s.

How registration works

Registration is only possible through the form. Day-only or single milonga participation is not available. Acceptance is based on role balance and geographic origin.

If your registration is accepted, you will receive a confirmation with payment details within 21 days. After payment, you will receive your final confirmation ('You Are In'). Only then should you book flights and hotel.

Cancellation policy

A cancellation more than 3 months before the event is refunded 100%. Up to 2 months before, the refund is 50%. In the last 2 months there is no refund, but we will try to find a replacement from the waiting list, maintaining where possible role and geographic balance.

Please note: it is not possible to purchase tickets for a single day or a single milonga.

Exploring our city

Between milongas, we recommend wandering through the villas and gardens of Formia and the beautiful historic quarters of Castellone and Mola, a few kilometres from the venue.

For an evening break, a drink on the lively via Abate Tosti, or traditional Neapolitan pizza at one of the many restaurants.

Getting there

Train

Formia is an important stop on the Rome-Naples line. From the station, a shuttle will take you to the Blue Rose venue.

Plane

Naples is the nearest airport (Alibus to the central station, then one hour by train). Alternatively Rome: Leonardo Express or shuttles from Ciampino to Termini, then train to Formia (about 1h30).

Car

Via Appia or A1 motorway to Cassino (30 km from Formia).

Organizer

Originally from Formia, based in Paris. Starting out as a researcher in music computing, he discovered tango in 2006 and his life changed. Today he is the webmaster of tango-argentin.fr, the reference for tango in France, a passionate milonguero and organizer of several marathons (Otra Luna, Lisbon Tango Marathon, Che Paris). His dream: to organize a marathon in his home town.

A lifelong lover of dance, she abandoned all other dances when she discovered Argentine tango. Born and raised in Formia, Vindicio area, she wanted to share this corner of paradise with the tango community. She organized the first editions of 'Una milonga sul mare' and today, with the same passion, the first Tango Marathon of Formia, together with her friend Enzo.

Driven by a passion for the visual arts, she studied art before entering the world of communication and events, ultimately finding her way to photography. Curious and captivated by the charm of Argentine tango, she collaborated with Marina on 'Una milonga sul mare' and then on the birth of the Blue Rose Tango Marathon.
